Replacing Excel with IBM Controller Cloud for scalable consolidation

As Nova expanded, it became clear that the group’s Excel-based consolidation method could no longer keep up with growing complexity. To address this, Nova partnered with Intito to implement IBM Controller Cloud, aiming to improve efficiency, accuracy, and transparency.

A smooth and efficient implementation

The project began in early September and was completed in time for Nova’s December reporting cycle. CFO Jonas Momkvist recalls a seamless experience:

“The system is largely intuitive and works well. We are now self-sufficient, managing both reporting and monthly closing processes independently. Intito provided us with thorough training and clear documentation. It’s also reassuring to know we can always reach out to their specialists if needed.”

For a company that handles frequent ownership changes, cross-border operations, and multiple currencies, IBM Controller brings significant advantages. It automates equity consolidation and minority interest calculations, and ensures accurate treatment of currency translation differences, share investments, and eliminations.

Accountant Robin Myrvold emphasizes: “Having system support and a solid audit trail for these processes is a significant advantage.”

Now running smoothly on IBM Controller Cloud, Nova Consulting Group sees opportunities to enhance automation and integrate more data sources in the future. The group currently imports data via text files with embedded logic but is exploring more advanced API integrations as their needs evolve.
